How to Help Kids Get Out of a Bad Mood: Kids can go from cheerful and happy to cranky in a flash. When these bad moods arise, it’s good to have methods to try
to stop them
1.Validate their feelings
It is important for them to know that it’s ok to be upset. Let them know that you’re there for them and help them through it. This will help them develop coping mechanisms for when they are upset in the future.
2. Make them laugh
Tell a joke or do a goofy dance. Smiling will improve their mood.
3. Remember the good times
When something good happens, write it on a piece of paper and put it in a box. Then, when your kid is in a bad mood, let them read a few of the memories and remind them that more good times are coming soon.
PRO TIP: Check out Monarch Montessori’s programs for infants, toddlers, and primary students. They help kids learn and grow in different ways. Don’t miss their Summer Camp and Infant Daycare in NJ for more fun and learning contact us for more details!
4. Dance it out
Have a playlist with upbeat songs on it and start playing it whenever your kid is in a bad mood. Dance with them and you’ll all soon be in a better mood.
5. Be patient
If trying to cheer your kid up doesn’t work, just be patient. Bad moods happen to everyone. Be there for them and let it
pass.
