A Typical Day at Monarch

Within the framework of the Montessori philosophy, including the 2.5-3 hour work period and using the Didactic Materials, the following activities will be included in all our programs on a daily basis.

 

Morning Exercises

Teachers plan physical activities such as yoga, exercises, coordination games, dance activities, ball games, obstacle courses, etc.

Group Time

Songs, dramatic play, story-telling, group games, movement games, science and cultural unit activities, lessons in social graces, etc.

 

Individual Work

Self-directed and guided work time with the Montessori materials and art materials for an uninterrupted block of 2.5-3 hours.

 

Snacks & Lunch

Snacks & lunches are provided by parent in insulated lunch bags. Lunches are available at additional cost. Full day classes will have snack in the morning and afternoon.

 

Outdoor Activities

Free play, group movement games, gardening, gross motor skill development on play equipment in an expansive and secure outdoor play area.

 

Clean-Up

Children learn to become mindful of their individual and shared spaces by helping maintain their classrooms.

 

Rest Time/Homework

Toddlers, three, four and some five year-olds nap; five and six year-olds silently read, work on homework or engage in another quiet activity.
